Urbansketching: where everything started

Don’t believe anybody who says drawing is about talent. Developing a skill is about obsession, joy, sensibility, and getting used to fail and try again. When I came back to drawing as an adult, I discovered a whole new way to approach the technique thanks to urbansketching.

This way of live drawing was perfect to slow down and know better the city, have an excuse to visit new neighbourghoods, looking for an interesting spot to draw (and I am sure you can find it anywhere). Urbansketching is about observation and connection, about taking a look at your environment in a whole new way, giving it your time and full attention.

I include here some of the drawings I made during my drawing learning process with urbansketching. It’s been a long time and it shows some parts of my life as an illustrated diary, like the years I lived in Barcelona or my moving to Bristol
